Meet the Herd: Say Hello to Cam

Cam

Before Cam Mullen became Yik Yak’s Lead Community Developer, he was actually our first official intern!

In March of 2014, an enthusiastic college student from Vanderbilt contacted us when he saw on Twitter that we were looking for interns. Brooks and Tyler could tell that he was really passionate about the app, so they hired him right away. Cam graduated that May and moved to Atlanta to continue his internship and was eventually offered a full-time gig a few months later.

Cam’s innate ability to befriend just about everyone he meets is one of the many reasons he’s such a GREAT community developer. From building our campus rep program from the ground up, to developing partnerships with both online and real life communities, to organizing events at college campuses around the world, Yik Yak just wouldn’t be where it is today without this guy.

Meet the Herd: Say Hello to Julie

Julie

By: Alexandra Rugh, Product Marketing Associate

In this week’s edition of Meet the Herd, you’re going to get to know Julie Zhou, our Lead Product Growth Manager!
Even though our HQ is in Atlanta, we actually have a few select individuals working out of an office in San Francisco, and Julie is one of those special people.

Julie frequently visits our office in Atlanta, but she also has some pretty cool technology that allows her to interact with us when she’s not here. Friends, I’d also like to introduce you to the Telepresence Robot (see image #4).

This cool piece of technology means that Julie can meander the hallways, pop into the game room to see who’s the current ping pong champ, and sit in on important meetings.

But enough about the robot. Let’s dive into Julie’s Q&A!

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to work at Yik Yak? If you’ve ever watched the TV show Silicon Valley, you’re probably familiar with startup company culture, like ping pong tables (yep), couches (on one right now), and slides from one floor to another (sigh, not quite yet), but there’s one thing that makes every startup unique: the employees!

So, we thought it would be fun to introduce you guys to some of the awesome people who work at Yik Yak.

In our new ‘Meet the Herd’ blog series, we’ll introduce you to a new Yik Yak employee every other week, and let them tell you a little about themselves and what it’s like working at Yik Yak. You may be surprised to find out that some us have really unique hobbies, talents, and dreams.

With that being said, I’d like to introduce you to Daniel Haire, our Brand Designer.
